In Summer 2017, I worked on the portion of the RomeLab project that allows users to see all of the data and sources that resulted in the 3D model used for the virtual world. Because it is important to provide such citations so users can evaluate the quality of the model, this was a significant aspect of the RomeLab project. Data was pulled primarily from the Lexicon Topographicum Urbis Romae, although ancient literary sources were also examined.

For this project, I served as a researcher, translating articles from Italian, French and German on the buildings in the Roman Forum in order to summarize for users what we know about their timelines and physical details. I then added this data to the Drupal site in which the Unity environment is embedded. Additionally, I expanded the functionality of code that allows interaction between the Drupal site and the Unity environment to allow users to click on a building within Unity and bring up information about it in the Drupal site. Finally, I implemented code that highlights buildings in yellow when the user mouses over them. This shows which structures can be clicked upon in Unity for more information.
